Sol Moteado means 'dappled sun', a little bit of Costa Rican rainforest paradise attached to the new Sylvan reserve. It was established by Dr Quin Wills, out of his love for Costa Rica's rainforests, people, beaches, festivals, and... tree houses (find Sol Moteado's
neighbours on AirBnB!).
By partnering up with Fiona Reid, a world-renowned naturalist and founder of Sylvan, our goal is to offer guests the opportunity stay in the rainforest, swim in waterfalls, and have access to wild life tours unlike anything else. The best part is that each night you stay sponsors a night in a safe house for an LGBT refugee.
But why an
Costa Rica has some of the most progressive LGBT rights, with a thriving LGBT community and tourism. However, it's not like that in much of Central America and the world.
Having grown up during more insular times in South Africa, Dr Wills recognises that his LGBT family not only needs basic rights, but should be thriving as global citizens, able to live their best selves. This is why every night's stay in the tree house will sponsor a night's stay in one of Micro Rainbow's LGBT refugee safe houses. Take a few moments to watch Sebastian Rocca present their vision.
I'd love to visit Costa Rica, is there more information about the place? Sol Moteado is part of the Sylvan rainforest reserve. We will be opening our doors in 2021, but Sylvan is already open and would love to have you around! For more information on where we are located, staying or touring at Sylvan, please check out the FAQS on Sylvan's website. Please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about us and the region.
How much can guests expect to pay? Sol Moteado's solar-powered tree house will have three en suite bedrooms, two sofa beds, a kitchen, and several balconies/rooms for relaxing. All rooms are double/twin. Our standard rates will be a single room (1-2 people) for $50 per night, two rooms (2-4 people) for $80 per night, and the entire tree house (3-10 people) for $120 per night.
